I’m excited to be taking part in three events
at Gallery 444 (dba SOMA Sound & Events) in Nelson BC this summer:
The first,
with an Opening Reception
on Saturday, July 5th, 7-8:30pm:
“true nature”
an environmental group exhibition
~
July 1 – August 31, 2025
Gallery 444
up the stairs at 444 Baker Street, Nelson BC
I am so honoured to be a part of this group show of Earth-themed works on display all summer long in this beautiful inviting space, with its warm brick walls and lovely light.
This exhibition includes works by four artists: Barbara Brown, oil; Chrystyna Bykowa, acrylic; Christopher Mcholm, acrylic; and Sam Stratchan, mixed media. I will be showing four of my forest paintings.
Secondly:
A special evening event:
Film Screening & Book Reading
Sunday, July 27th 6:30- 8:30 pm
Gallery 444
444 Baker Street, Nelson BC
~
We’ll screen my film:
“On BEAUTY, As We Come to It in the Forest”
(Click on the picture to watch the film trailer)
This is a half-hour deep dive into the beauty, the wonder, and the wisdom of the forest, through my eyes as an artist. It features the stunning cinematography of filmmaker Isaac Carter, with a gorgeous original soulful soundtrack by Noel Fudge.
After the film I will give readings from my book and sign copies:
Volume II
SYLVAN REFLECTIONS: Wanderings, Paintings and Ponderings from the Forest
“Filled with the poetry of the soul, insightful quotes and delightful pictures, Barbara Brown gives us a peek into the transformative power of spending time in the wild woods. Using her artistic talent, Barbara’s book succeeds in bringing us into the enchanted realm of a healthy forest, where we may find ourselves soothed, heartened, inspired, uplifted and healed.”
~ Ellen Dee Davidson, Author of The Miracle Forest and Sacred Forest Bathing
Please do come!
And then . . .
Third and finally:
